Will the Republicans who don't like Trump vote for the Democrats?

What percentage might be likely to express their dissatisfaction by defecting?

  • I'm not a American but I get the feeling this election is going to be so decisive and decisive amongst the population ... It has the potential to totally disrupt your normal two party attitude. ... and that may not be a bad thing

There is no way of telling.  I would say they won't vote period, but maybe not.   Many are so spiteful, they will vote Trump just because they are of the same thought process as those who ruled the House and Senate.  They will cut their noses off to spite the Democrats and vote  Trump just because he is NOT a Democrat.

I have no great love for Hillary but I certainly will vote for her because she is NOT Trump.  But I never would vote for any Republican that has been handed down the pipe in the last several elections.  It is not so much the individual as the whole party is beyond even the definition of  corruption or salvation any longer.

  • Did you know that voting in Australia is compulsory (on pain of a small fine)?

Most USA citizens find it astonishing, but most Aussies are astonished that it could be voluntary!

    It's going to be interesting.

If one looks at HRCs' ACTUAL POLICIES (pro-big business, quite hawkish on foreign policy), those policies would seem to be congruent with what most "mainstream" Republicans favor. However, the demonization rhetoric applied to HRC (and President Obama before her) would suggest that she (and Obama) are STOOPID EBIL LIBRUHLZ KUMMIN TO GIT R GUNZ AND STICK US IN THEM THAR FEMA REEDUCATION CAMPS!

So it will be interesting to see if Republicans disaffected with Trump take a look at how HRC has actually behaved, or if they will react more to the demonized caricature of her. My educated guess is most will either not vote for a Presidential candidate at all, or they will vote for a conservative-leaning 3rd party candidate.

  • Yes, that's an interesting point, that there are other parties and choices,

which seemed to be ignored by the media unless they do or say something shocking.

Are there demographics for who votes Republican?

Is there a tendency for them to be less educated?
