    Not defending the usual suspects but the justice system can be far from just. Agendas get carried out, errors occur, words are manipulated, and innocent people do go to prison. Sometimes the wisest course is to remain silent.

    Thank you for your reply LO. Sure. Cops can plant evidence. Eyewitnesses can be paid to say anything. Or people can make honest mistakes when they "remember" what happened or whom they think they saw. I wonder if we will ever know how large a percent of the population is  falsely incarcerated?

    Highly doubtful, especially since the system still represents, to a large extent, the best justice money can buy. I'd still wager that most are rightfully incarcerated, but for some, their biggest "crime" was not having the funds necessary to obtain effective legal counsel.

    The rich get off oftener than the poor. Not because they were more innocent but because they had more money. Money talks. It buys anything you want..almost. Thank you for your reply LO! :)

    And don't forget that the fate of an accused person is often determined by 12-people that aren't smart enough to avoid jury duty.

    What utter nonsense! That would be the position of a "Banana Republic" government, of an Inquisition.  

    If that were the case exercising your 5th Amendment Rights would be exactly the same as pleading nolo contendere to charges that may be brought against you.
