    I've never lived in one personally but it IS my dream :)  I would think that the main advantage is that there is always someone on hand to talk to and share thoughts, concerns, laughter and sadness.  Talking would be the main thing needed in a group - to always talk, work things out and find agreement and compromise.   
    Another good thing is that there is always someone to share the chores.. right now I do ALL the housework and garden - it would be fabulous to have someone else do some of the things.
