I remember when we were going to Skype.  I was torn between really wanting to talk and say HI and dreading being on the telephone.  LOL

  • I miss skyping...but the person who organized it is no longer someone I call a friend.

  • LOL!! That's actually the song I had in mind when I posted this. My mom had a Rambler when I was a a young teenager. You could not kill that car, you could not! It ran on and on and on. It had no floor on the drivers side, and it had to be started by holding a toothbrush in the corroborator. The one Shar posted was running through my head as well.  This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at August 6, 2017 10:42 AM MDT

    Wow, an Asker's Pick! Thanks!
I've always loved this song. As a child, I first heard it at a friend's house. My friend's parents had a recording of this song and I always asked her if we could listen to it. We even made a little pantomime performance to it, pretending we were The Playmates.
    :)

I was thinking of Numan's song, too.
    :)

    Your mom's car sounds GREAT!

Why is it only now, watching the video here, that I realize, in all of his various "looks," how handsome Varney is?

  • All those times I watched him, I never knew he could sing. That's actually my favorite version of that song and it's been covered by many artists!!

That's it, ALF! Ever since seeing your answer and Varney, something was missing in my mind - - what was missing was the fact that I only equated him with that goofy character he portrayed. I never knew he could sing, either. The man had many layers to him for sure.
I don't think I knew he had died, either.

  • It's from the "More Twisted Christmas" album w/ Bob Rivers (1997).
