Eliminate the competition and free the jobs that immigrants take so that American citizens can have them. That's the goal, right?

Maids, janitors, gardeners, kitchen workers, cleaning ladies, pool cleaners. All the really classy jobs that pay big bucks. This is what the anti-immigrant American citizen wants for himself or herself.  Shut the borders totally. Deport all who aren't American citizens. Just think how grand it would be making beds in a Trump hotel and washing dishes in a Trump restaurant kitchen or pulling weeds on a Trump golf course.  That would be the thrill of a lifetime wouldn't it? Actually getting a paycheck from a Trump company? Imagine one can aspire to even take out the garbage for a president as a full-time job! Only in America!  Isn't America great?

What is the unemployment rate in the USA? From what I see, in 2015 it was about 5%. Underemployment (part time as well as unemployed) was about 10%. That's 8 to 16 million! I can see why a lot of people are on Trumps coat tails, hoping he will deliver a lot of jobs.

It isn't so much that Americans don't want to do those jobs, it's that they don't want to do them for the low wages they pay.  Unfortunately, with the world moving towards technology and robotics, many formerly well-paying jobs will be eliminated.  We used to be the country in the forefront of new technology, but we see to be falling behind.  It's almost as though we reached a point where we've put our feet up on the desk and said, "We've done enough."

That's the point though Spunky. Isn't it? Americans don't want to do the jobs at the wages they offer but they also don't  want immigrants to do them either. How stoopid is that? Makes no sense at all. Many Americans don't for whatever reason. SIGH. Thank you for your reply! :)

I think that many Americans are happy to pay immigrants to do the grunt work for them - yard work, laundry, nannies, etc. because they know they don't have to pay them $15 an hour.

You keep saying you can't find work, but when I ask you what are your skills, you never respond.  Why don't you see an employment counselor who can determine what you would be best at doing.  Perhaps that person could recommend an employer for you.

I've had the same experience. Sometimes you really do wonder who's on "the other side."

The economic issues are just one part of it. The main reason to prevent immigration is to protect the culture.

Accepting significant immigration from inferior cultures undermines a nation.

The reason they want in is because their country sucks. The reason their country sucks is because they wrecked it. If they are let in they will influence the nation in the same negative direction their home country followed. Until they put their own house in order, they are a liability.
