Polish people used to think they could play a prank on a man by laying his razor on a windowsill where it would catch moon light. The polarized light from the moon supposedly would dull the edge.
Well, some Polish scientist wanted to x-ray a pyramid in Egypt, so he put photographic film under it to be exposed by cosmic rays. The results made no sense to him, so he remembered the old tradition and put a dull razor under the pyramid instead. The razor was sharpened.
