Medium rare for me and we tease my mom that if they could bring the cow out and plop it on her plate, she'd be happy.   ;-)

As for raw fish, not a fan but I know lots of people who just love their sushi.

There is something about the crispy end cuts of roasts that I really love. Believe it or not my mom years ago would make and eat "Steak Tartare"! Raw ground sirloin with onions and garlic and parsley and other seasonings. She'd make it and serve it when she and my dad gave parties and others seemed to just love it too. I never tasted it. The thought of raw meat grossed me out! Thank you for your reply Lyric! :)

Medium rare for me too. Get well done and the meat becomes dry and tough.  No raw fish for me, and no steak tartar with a raw egg on top :)

I just posted a reply to Lyric and I mentioned Steak Tartar! My mom used to make it and even served it at parties! I never tasted it! There is something so luscious to me about the crispy end cuts of roasts . Now steak I like pink inside but I don't want red juices flowing from it when I cut into it. You can overcook fish and chicken and pork and they all become tough and unpleasant to eat. I don't recall mom serving the raw ground steak with a raw egg on top though. She used onions and garlic and parsley and might have incorporated raw egg into it though I'm not certain about that. She'd season it up and take bites as she was fixing it to see if the flavor was good. AARRGGHH! Thank you for your reply and Happy Monday Maurice! :)

  • I love prime rib. I will not eat raw fish, even on the threat of mayhem and death. Can't make myself go there

Funnee hunnee. You and me both although I have to tell you I did taste Ceviche once and it was pretty tasty. I think they used lime juice in a marinade that "cooks" the flesh so it doesn't taste raw. Also once we were dining at a really spiffy place with a friend who was treating us to a special dinner and he ordered AHI Tuna prepared in some special way. He offered me a taste and I was very brave and tasted it. It was raw but once again it didn't taste raw. I wouldn't order it on my own but the taste wasn't half bad.  Thank you for your reply G! :)

  • I do not eat ribs. My Japanese friend often serves sashimi that is slices of raw fish. I think some sushi has raw fish in it as well. We eat more sashimi than sushi however. She also serves live lobster and shrimp occasionally.
