I'll tell you where you heard it:  It was on this past Sunday's Meet the Press.  This is from the transcript:

    "CHUCK TODD:

Welcome back. In 2017, are we seeing some of these hate groups become mainstream? Sort of part of the conversation we were just having, according to Southern Poverty Law Center, there are currently 917 active hate groups in the United States. Between 2015 and 2016, we saw 197 percent increase in anti-Muslim hate groups.

Yeah, THERE'S a "reliable" source; Press the Meat and Chuck Todd, the Clod. NBC's the network that brought us Brian Williams and the exploding pick-up truck gas tank triggered by a hidden model rocket engine. And from the Southern Poverty Law Center, no less . . .

Seems legit . . . This post was edited by Salt and Red Pepper at August 14, 2017 8:01 PM MDT

You reading comprehension leave a lot to be desired.  The source was the Southern Poverty Law Center, not Chuck Todd.  But don't let facts get in your way.

No, your reading and listening comprehension leaves a lot to be desired. The Southern Poverty Law Center is a propaganda machine and "Nothing But Confusion" (NBC) is one of their conduits. They know that NBC won't even think about "vetting" SPLC's bull if it agrees with their (NBC's) agenda.

But don't let the actual facts get in their or your way. This post was edited by Salt and Red Pepper at August 14, 2017 8:09 PM MDT

Ah, I see.  It doesn't comport with YOUR opinion, so it's got to be propaganda, fake news, etc.  Got it.

No, it doesn't "square" with the actual facts. THAT'S why it's propaganda. Check it out rather than blindly accepting what you partially read or hear.

Right, it wasn't on FOX News, so it can't be accurate.

You're welcome.  I was watching Meet the Press, so I remembered that particular statement.

I'm betting that number is low.
How many people define a "group"?
Do they have to be officially organized?
What about overlaps (EG: members of one hate group are also members of another hate group, but not necessarily all members of one group are in both)?
What if the group is mainly foreign, and only has a couple members in the US? This post was edited by Walt O'Reagun at November 7, 2017 3:26 PM MST
