Discussion»Questions»Life and Society» As heard on TV said by I don't know whom. I was in the other room. "There are 917 hate groups in America". If true what say you?
I see that you are the kind of person who always looks for the silver lining sweetie. Good point. Thank you for your reply cp and Happy Tuesday to thee! :)
917 ? Nope I do not believe that. It looks like a number fabricated for effect. '17' is our current year, then put '9' in front of that to make it look a lot bigger. And how should they be counted ? Do we add "Mothers of America knitting circle east" in their running feud against "Mothers of America knitting circle west" about who took/stole the scissors after the reconciliation meeting ?
I see you are the kind of person that refuses to take things seriously. Different strokes. Your question is unanswerable since I don't know if there is such an organization as you bring up, do you? My question is answerable and this is yours. Thank you and Happy Tuesday J.
Very few, I believe I suggested something similar with my example of 2 knitting circles hating eachother. since then I have read through most of the list, end found no sign of frivolous hate groups like that I hope you will agree that the KKK in all its chapters is a hate group. they form most of the list. then there are thw the Nazis and white supremacists and anti Muslims and anti Mexicans and skinheads and, and, and,
But look through the list yourself, and led let me know if you find a group there that should NOT be considered a hate group.
I did look through the SPLC's list and most of it is repeating the same hate groups under their various listings. For example, the KKK is a single umbrella but shows as many different groups on that list. Just a a way to add "volume" to a list that should rightfully appear in a much shorter form. Or to put it in a different light just how many individual members are in each group? Less that 10, or are there thousands. And how many of those members are members of multiple groups? When you consider those variables the list becomes meaningless.

Yes, I did. (Unless you consider people that want good, responsible, fair-handed governance to be "hate" groups.)
Now answer my question about the total number of MEMBERS and potential multiple memberships. For example, the SPLC's list of KKK groups is probably around fifty. Yet the total klan membership is around 8,000, (and in sharp decline) and spread across that list. What's the population of the USA? When you compare those numbers you see that klan membership isn't even a blip on the statistical radar. I suspect that others on the list are even thinner. So these hate groups are listed primarily as a fund-raising tactic for the real hate groups (like the Southern Poverty Law Center) and for the media to draw the eyeballs and ears of those who don't know any better.

Well the KKK is an umbrella organisation and became so after Opposition became vocal in the last century. I mostly agree with you that many of the KKK chapters may have reformed but the dream is still the same. nationwide recognition that negroes (as defined by them) are inferior and should have no citizenship rights. Obama as president probably made them desire that even more strongly, and then came Trump and gave them hope. So now: riots and murder in the streets.
May I ask for YOUR example of a Not-A-Hate-group the Is wrongly included in the list. You are usually so insistent on giving THE FACTS, why not here.
