He did not mention White Nationalists of course. His very own BRAIN Steve Bannon is one. Does Trump think NOT attacking White Nationalists will save his formidable a **? Why?
Aren't white nationalists pretty much the same as those other groups? Maybe that's why he didn't specify "white nationalist" because it would just be redundant.
He probably did a private stream with the head clansman right afterwards. That possibly went something like this ; "I only said it because I had to! Don't worry, I got your back."

I'm a fan of Trump, yeah. But I do think he may have had a discussion with these people to apologize. I don't think for one second that he's affiliated with them, but I do think he wouldn't like to lose their support/votes either. He needs everything he can get.
