But I was thinking of one of my favorite groups -- The Crash Test Dummies.
Here's my favorite song of theirs and one of my favorite music videos at the same time. "MMM...MMM...MMM...MMM..." Why? you ask?
~ The song -- three short little vignettes and the only commentary we get from the lyrics is "mmm mmm mmm mmm." We the listeners must bring meaning to the song.
~ the video - - the Crash Test Dummies band actually allows THEIR SONG to be the focus of the video; they themselves stay in the background, literally in the pit in front of the stage. The action upon the stage and in the audience is the focus.
God, I love all of this. :)
If you've heard the song/seen the video, I apologize for all of this. If you haven't I recommend watching and listening. :) Most people I know hate the song.

Oh, carbonproduct! You've helped make my night so calming and happy! I really meant it that most people I know hate the song. But to hear you reaction -- I love it! Thanks for letting me know!
The song is so high on my list of favorite songs - - I think the song works on so many levels. The music video is one of the best videos I've seen made for a specific song. (So often, music videos just feature the singer/group and show them off -- however, The Crash Test Dummies, to me, are assured in themselves; they don't need to flash themselves on the screen at every opportunity -- Like I said, in this video, so unlike so many other videos, the SONG is the star and focus -- I believe that is why the first time I saw the video to the song I was floored in admiration. I love the song. I love the group. I love the video. And I love how they all gel so well!!
HA!! I LOVE IT!! I never saw this before, Slartibartfast! I didin't know Al had parodied this song! And it only just makes me like the original song and video that much more! :) Weird Al is so spot on so often. :)
And it explains a bit maybe what I've found to be true - - most people I know hate the song. Oh, well! :) And I love how the video for Al's song is so similar to the original -- and funny but not over-the-top funny. The humor stays within the confines of the song's style. And I love the last couple leaving the theater at the end of the video! Ha! Lol! :)
Thanks for posting this! I never would have known it was out there!
