What matters so much to me?---comments and opinions---verbal or otherwise---based on consequent ignorance (lack of knowledge one should possess) and couched as opinions.

"Logic" has nothing to do with it---start off with the wrong assumptions; and no matter how valid your logic is, your conclusions are still wrong.

People's opinions don't matter to me tom. They are entitled to them as I am entitled to mine. What does drive me to ask questions is the promulgation of lies. The embracing of "alternative facts". The acceptance of flat-out untruths, shaded/distorted reality that conforms to what the liar/distorter/truth avoider wants to convince others of. Their sources are always specious/unreliable/factless and factfree but that matters not at all to them. They can see/hear a videotape of their guy saying one thing and another video denying he ever said it. They believe both and will hold dear what the guy says. That's what keeps me in business since that is happening 24/7. Different strokes. Thank you for your reply m'dear and Happy Tuesday! :)

Opinions, when based on misinformation, fake news, or just the plain inability to understand what is going on, are perhaps even more effective than questions that promulgate lies.

I can easily refute the misinformation behind a question, but I am constrained by what I see to be a ridiculous interpretation of "respect" when refuting an opinion.

Opinions can be insidious because we think that everyone is entitled to theirs.  After all, some people think what some call drug addiction is a actually a good way to live.

And in their minds, falling feels like flying at first, so what's wrong with calling it flying rather than calling it falling? This post was edited by tom jackson at September 10, 2017 3:50 AM MDT

When you fly you are in control. When you fall you aren't. Huge difference. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Whether you agree or dis is irrelevant. You cannot always refute misinformation if you don't have access to truth or if what you truly believe is true isn't. Sometimes we must wait for hindsight to provide an answer. We do our best. I don't see how we can do more than that. I shall ask that question and see what folks come up with. Thank you for your thoughtful reply tom and Happy Friday! :)

    I don't fight. I'm more the passive-aggressive type.
