    Breathing.
Football players on teams that compete against the Denver Broncos at their home turf, the Mile-High Stadium, have to have oxygen tanks standing by on the sidelines to help them periodically catch their breath.

I had that problem when I went to Ecuador which is almost 11,000 feet above sea level.  Took me three days to adapt.

They say Olympic Marathon runner Frank Shorter trained in the mountains around Denver. (back in the 70's)

So if you can make it in Denver you can make it anywhere if you're an athlete? The air is thinner the higher you go? The closer to sea level the thicker the air? I dunno. I visited Denver when my son lived there. Twice. I didn't notice any difficulty in breathing nor was I aware of thin air versus thick. Of course I didn't do any running or jogging either. Thank you for your reply bh. My sis has to make adjustments when she bakes. I guess you can get used to anything. Thank you for your reply! :)

Taste buds and sense of smell are the first things to go at 30,000 feet,
