THANK YOU VEENA! YOU'RE THE BEST!

Some of you know I live in a rural area.  I lovingly refer to the town and it's surrounds as White Trashland.

If I want to go out to eat for a good meal, it's at least a 30 minute hard drive.  To find a good Indian restaurant,  I have to drive 1 hour and 15 minutes one way.  Our lovely Veena offered to share some of her recipes with me.  She sent me a recipe for Vegetable Korma which I cooked up today.  I am in forking SEVENTH HEAVEN!  It's the best Vegetable Korma I've ever had!

THANK YOU VEENA!  THANK YOU VEENA!  THANK YOU VEENA!
I AM SUCH A HAPPY WOMAN AT THE MOMENT AS I SIT HERE EATING VEENA'S VEGETABLE KORMA!

*edit: For those of you who don't know Indian food and are wondering why it looks this way, this is the Indian version of vegetable stew.

She really touched my heart when she offered to send me recipes.  I am a nut for Indian food and rarely eat it unless I go down to New Jersey to visit friends.

    I want more recipes! :-)

She adds some much needed class to this place with all its ne'er-do-wells and their drunken debauchery. But enough about us......

That looks awesome. She is really great about sharing her culinary expertise. I'm not a fan of red curry... it looks like that has it (no?). I'm addicted to yellow. More of a Thai food person, myself. I wish I wasn't so danged picky because that woman knows her stuff. She did a blog or two on food as well. Brilliant.

JA, there is absolutely no curry in this dish.  The coloring comes from primarily a mixture of Garam Masala, Red Chili Powder, Tomatoes, and Turmeric.  There are a number of other spices involved.  It's a bit of a complicated dish because you have to mix ingredients in certain ways, creating a couple of different pastes.  But, when all is said and done, it's not as complicated as I thought it would be.

Just be forewarned, for the average American palate, it's a very spicy dish.

I would ask for the recipe if I thought there was a snowball's chance in Hades that I would actually cook it.

VEENA!  I'm so glad you're able to join us so early today!  How does the dish look to you?  I know even if it doesn't look right, you'll be your sweet self and tell me it looks good because you don't want to hurt my feelings. Haha!  So, how did it come out?  Does it look the way it's supposed to?  Even if it doesn't, it sure tastes amazing!  I just heated up another bowl for myself tonight.  It's very yummy in my tummy! ;-)

Awww.  Thank you dear.  You're being your lovely self as usual.  But, I'll take the compliment because I'm a needy person. lol.
Thank you so much again!  This was so wonderful.  Now, you need to send me the recipe for your own favorite dish.  The one you love to eat.  This way, I can cook it and then pretend I'm having dinner with you! :-D

BTW, just to let you know, I really enjoyed making it.  Yes, it was a challenge with the various components needing to be mixed into pastes and spice mixtures, then adding them at various intervals but I actually had fun doing it.  I'm like you.  I really do love to cook.  I enjoy a challenge.
