    They are no longer alive.

When I moved abroad, my mom was elderly and a widow and I called her daily.

    I miss her.

  • I call two or three times a month, as much to let to them know that I'm doing well as to check on them. If I get busy and don't call, I will hear from them.

I leave him be and talk with me when he's able to. Which happens at random times.

    I live with mom.

  • i see my mother a few times a year. usually she comes to visit me. we talk on the phone a couple times a month, and there's the random text. i haven't seen my father in many years. we exchange birthdays, Christmas, and father's day cards, sometimes with a short letter or photographs. neither of us likes to travel or talk on the phone.

I talk to my mother a few times each week. My father will be way less. Maybe once a month on average, maybe less.

  • I dread the day I shall be separated forever from my loving parents. Can't bear the thought. We live about 3 km apart, and both of them are in good health (father is 72 and mother 66); but I check on them for about 5 minutes every night, and still lay a lot of weight on their judgement and advice in personal, and sometimes professional, matters.

  • What's your separation distance from them? How about Skypeing your father?

  • At least you keep in touch, which is a good thing.

Takes two to stay in touch. Most of it comes from my side with my father.

  • That's nice. At least he feels his daughter isn't uncaring. :)

  • about 200 miles. jest enough. i'm sure my father has never skyped. he doesn't even have his own computer or email address. he is way old-school. my parents have been divorced since 1976, so i've always gone many years between seeing him.

    That´s very nice.

My mom and I were very good friends.

It was very difficult to leave her when I moved overseas and I worried constantly about her health, that´s why I kept in touch so often.

Fortunately she was in good health and traveled to visit me often and it was  great having her around again.

Yeah, and I'm not. I made that decision way back in life. :-)

  • Dad died when I was 14.

After I grew up and returned from overseas study, I saw or rang Mum roughly once a fortnight.

Until she needed high care, and then she came to live with us for the last 18 months.

  • I talk to both my parents at least once a week. I still live only a 30 minute drive from them, though.
