Never mind, the para-Christians, conspiracy-dreamers and the like who like to invent scares like that to amuse the rest of us and keep social networks buzzing, will soon pick some other date. I wonder how they do that? Roll a die for each date digit in turn?
I did hear this scare originated among readers of a NASA report, or more likely its Press release, about the chance of some very large meteorite or similar object colliding with the Earth - but I wonder how much the scare story reflects the astronomers' predictions, if at all?
