Do you believe what people say to you or are you more likely to impute negative intentions to the words?
What makes you think you KNOW what someone intends/means if you don't accept the words they use? How do you figure out that the underlying meaning is sinister? Some people do exactly that. I don't know why. Go figger! Do you?
I like to think I am more a realist. I will take someone's word on whatever just out of politeness and respect but really I wait to see if their actions support or belie their words.
