Since WHEN is it unAmerican and unpatriotic to PROTEST when you don't like something? Who the he** does Donald John think he is?

Knocking sports figures for showing protest? He acts like DER FUHRER. Not the president of the United States of America where FREE SPEECH and PEACEFUL PROTEST is allowed/encouraged/supported. Shame on him for calling out those who disagree with what is going on! His Dictator slip is showing and it is UGLY.

It's not a protest. A protest makes an argument. It goes something like this -

    The U.S. is doing Y.
    Y is unjust.
Therefore the U.S. should stop doing Y.

A protest is about policy. It's about what the STATE is DOING. A national anthem is, as the name suggests, about the nation not the state. It's not about political policy. It's an affirmation of LOYALTY to the NATION.

There are loads of things wrong with my country. We're a nation of sheep, owned by pigs, and ruled by wolves and at least 20% of us are pure scum. Though that doesn't mean I'm not loyal to the nation itself. I'm not going to direct my criticism at the country itself.

People have a right to free speech. They don't have the right to be respected. Any kind of celebrity is in a position that largely depends on being respected by others. Anything they do, right or wrong, that causes them to lose the respect of others may cause them to be fired.

The national anthem is not the time or place for protest. Those who feel they can't be part of celebrating their nation should resign their positions. This post was edited by Zeitgeist at June 26, 2018 7:10 AM MDT
