My mother and I painted a huge barn one time mainly with paint brushes, the paint was oil based and should have been thinned but we were not aware of that fact until we were 1/2 way into the job, and by that time we just decided to continue on the way we had started, it was very hard but we were tough, so we made it, and the barn looked wonderful. It was on the corner of a very busy intersection in town, and showed up  because it was bright red. every time I went by there I was reminded of how hard it had been to get all that paint on there, and how many blisters we got doing it, but the customer was very pleased, and the blisters healed, but the memory remains. It has now been replaced by a Hardees, but I will never forget it. I am sure that mom didn't either, but she has already passed on.

  • My studio, an old wool warehouse, in inner-city Sydney many years ago, inside and out.

    Walls 9 meters wide x 30 metres long x 6 metres high,

    plus the upstairs flat.

Guessing somewhere around 1,000 square metres.

A room 18 x 24 feet, with 9 foot walls and I believe when I was estimating for paint I subtracted 42 square feet for the two entryways, and 12.5 sf per window, and there were 4 windows

    2 (18 x 9) + 2 ( 24 x 9) - 84 - 50

    2(162) + 2(216) - 134

    324 + 432 - 134 = 622 sf

Did you make sure the sticky side goes down? Otherwise the paint will slide off.

Yup. Avoid buying that cheap old ordinary paint that is sticky on both sides.
