Were you ever astounded when after telling someone of your experience they replied saying "I think you just made that up" ...?

Yes, I was with my brother when he found a hummingbird wrapped in a spiderweb and freed it. When I told the story, I was accused of making it up. My friend had a hip replacement done as outpatient surgery, when I talked about it, I was told that I was mistaken and hip replacements are not done that way (t was unusual which is why I commented about it). Why do people think that someone like me, who has a reputation for fact-checking and truth-telling would make up stories about things just to make conversation?
