Ask My 2 Cents.  Surely there is a disloyal leaker in Puerto Rico

    Or ELSE?

Trump has made amazing HUGE strides to help all the needy, (except Latinos who are rapists and murderers) and he has practically insured all the destroyed buildings out of his own pocketbook.

What a pathetic situation. This Trump administration.
Lies after Lies after lies after lies. He is out to help
no-one except himself. Cutting taxes for the rich
especially himself. He will save a billion on his taxes.
This is the only reason He wanted to be President
just so he could cut his taxes. The heck with all of the people
in the world especially the US....just out to help himself.
    And the whole administration casts
a blind eye and supports it all. His administration
is bankrupting the US with their pompous self indulgence.
Tax cuts for the middle class BS BS BS Its all about tax cuts for himself...and he says
none of these cuts are helping him. All of his spoke persons
refuse to admit to this and deny deny deny, Lies Lies Lies.
God help us all...and they say it is all about
helping the middle class. Lies lies and more lies. And all of his followers
don't see any of it...just supporting all of his BS rhetoric.
Bully Bully Bully Lies and more lies
insults to all even pushing Kim Un
to the brink of him lashing out with more and more and more
Push him some more insult everyone some more
    til he cracks
pick on the NFL to distract every one from
where the real need for the US is...
Where the real issues are in America...
And his followers rant and rave about all of the good
    he is doing???
the blind following the blind like what are they called?
all following their leader while they all fall off the edge of the cliff...

well that's it......just had to get all of that out
it was getting all bottled up...LOLOL
but it is a sad state of affairs...OK that's it
    end of Rant...

The Mayor of San Juan was PLEADING to get help in.  Apparently there are goods there but they can't get them in to the people. Red tape or whatever. His royal highness Dotard Donny was so busy chastising American Citizens for asserting their right to peaceable protest for several days that he never once mentioned Puerto Rico. Then when he did he said the infrastructure is in terrible disarray and they have massive debt as if to explain the devastation. As if it were their fault. I don't know if he even knew that Puerto Ricans are American citizens. They are people of color.  Funny that Texas and Florida got lotsa help very fast. Aren't Cubans (many of whom live in Florida) people of color just like Puerto Ricans. When all he** broke loose about the Dotard's apparent disinterest in Puerto Rico he suddenly started talking about it..mostly telling us how wonderful he has been and how much praise he has gotten. He plans to go there TUESDAY! Jacka** . There may not be an island left to visit by Tuesday. He lies constantly and consistently and determinedly and his worshippers believe all that crap! SIGH. Thank you for your reply and Happy Friday! :)

  • That has nothing to do with him. It's due to an old act that says only American vessels flying American flags can bring goods to port in Commonwealth territories of the US.  It was lobbyed for long ago by porter and longshoreman unions to protect wages and jobs for porters and longshoreman.  It has been suspended as of yesterday.
It's called the Jones Act and has been qa problem for Guam and Puerto Rico for decades and decades. This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at September 29, 2017 4:26 AM MDT

Actually the President is the one with the power to waive the Jones Act. But as the problem in Puerto Rico hasn't been the ability to get goods into port but in delivering them to outlying areas, the more compelling question may be why the USNS Comfort, a Mercy-class hospital ship with over 1,000 beds, wasn't sent to the island sooner. It appeared clear even before Maria that damage to hospital facilities was a probability and that a floating hospital would be necessary.

And the point I was making was that in the case of Puerto Rico, the Jones Act hasn't been the issue.

  • sure it has.   If the goods aren't moving from port then that is on them.

They don't share our debt burden, and only want to be a part of us when their welfare state goes bankrupt or they get hit with a disaster.  WTF?

That hasn't been the primary issue. The Jones Act is about getting the items into port. The items are already there. If they aren't moving, it's on them? So we should let US Citizens die. Are you sure you're not a Trump supporter?

So US citizens in Puerto Rico don't have the same rights as US citizens in the states? Why would that be?

  • This isn't a rights issue.

WTF? People being left to die isn't a human rights issue?

  • No document says anyone has a right to aid.
Nowhere does it say any of us have a right to disaster relief.
Freedom of press, assembly,  unwarented seizure, etc....Those are our rights.

Erm..... I seem to remember something about the right to LIFE, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Declaration of Independence. Ring a bell? Are you seriously going to defend a delay in services which could possibly lead to the death of US citizens because they happen to live in Puerto Rico?

  • That is a far stretch of defintions and you know it.   It means the government and authorities don't have the right to take life and liberty from you on whims and it's persuit, not promise.

Hey when a bunch of people move away so they can have better tax rates and drink on a beach then they assume risks.   It's like that idiot who got himself detained in North Korea and died on release.

What delay????  You are saying the goods are there just PR can't move them fast enough.  WTF do people want or expect?  The whole SE US and Caribbean  has been triple whammied by  unheard of storms and someone expects this to be different?

Everything is ****** all over.  It's likely to get worse. This post was edited by my2cents at September 29, 2017 5:06 AM MDT

The majority of people on the island are natives. They didn't toodle over there to drink on the beach and enjoy better tax rates.

And no, I don't see "life" as a far stretch of definitions. I see it as a basic human right and quite frankly find your argument and lack of concern about fellow US citizens somewhat disturbing. Seems that Trump's callousness really is rubbing off on people. Nevertheless, despite admittedly difficult conditions, the US can and should do better.

For TWO DAYS Dotard Donny was obsessing about the NFL and the right of Americans to protest peacefully. It was all he could talk about. Meanwhile Puerto Ricans were without potable water and electricity. THEY ARE STILL WITHOUT THOSE THINGS. He has the attention span of a flea and  helping people is clearly not as sexy or exciting to  him as promulgating divisive  hatred. That is what "Rosie" is bit**ing about Glis.  You have no problem with that at all then? This post was edited by RosieG at September 29, 2017 4:43 AM MDT
