Silencers on guns. Thumbs up/down? Apparently there is currently a bill in Congress about allowing it for all. Why?

You can gun down a lot more people when no one can hear any sounds. So what is the upside benefit of having silencers on guns? I know the downside.

    Silencers are only marginally effective. They can muffle the explosion that propels the bullet, but not the sound the bullet itself makes as it breaks the sound barrier.

    Well it was the SOUND of the weapon rat-a-tat-tat, rat-a-tat-tat that people heard first.  Some thought it was part of the act. Until people started dropping and then they realized it was the sound of an automatic weapon. I think the use of silencers helps a murderer just as shooting through a pillow muffles sound. Of course I have no first-hand experience with it. Only what I see on TV or in the movies. You know I'm not a gun person so I am at the mercy of how guns are depicted on screen. Bullets break the sound barrier? I thought only jets did that Sbf. Thank you for your reply!  Oh I referred to you in a question I asked about guns. You'll see it. SIGH. And the beat goes and on and on and on and on! :(
