Anything without a central nervous system and rudimentary brain can't. The auditory nerve is part of that.

So you're saying that not every living "animal" has a brain or a nervous system Sbf? This is another thing I'm having a problem grasping. How do they live then? How do they process info? How do they decide anything? What direction to go? When to eat? What to eat? Without a nervous  system they can't feel pain and that is our warning system that something is wrong. I guess this is something I need to look into. I'm gobsmacked right now! Thank  you for your informative reply and Happy Wednesday! :)
