It's definitely caused a bit of tension. I've always been vocal about my viewpoints and ever since high school my father and I have gotten into yelling matches about certain things. This one has been more of a silent, strained tension. Still love, but I just can't think of people in my life the same way after knowing their stance on particular issues.
My mom and dad taught me many things but one of the best things was: A successful and happy marriage leaves politics, of any sort, out. One of them is democratic and the other republican. To this day, I don't know who is which. It really doesn't matter. They are avid voters and even though they counter themselves out, they RARELY talk about it. I vote for the person I feel the best to do the job. Their color, gender, party doens't matter to me. Only if I feel they are qualified and will do the job to the best of their ability and certainly help the country.
