Have you ever concocted your child's name as a combination of the parents'? Or do you know of any couple who have?

For example, Robert and Mary name their child Romar.

Hmm. So if I had a wife named Linda, our offspring would be Chopped Liver.

Yes, my friends named their first daughter Janeen. It was combination of the grandmothers' names which were Janet and Doreen. I thought it was sweet.

My children are not named that way, but I've known many people who have done that.  In years past, it was quite a common thing in the African-American community. Here are a few of them.

    Stephanie and Elston: Stelson

    Raymond and Lena: Rayleen

    Arthur and Shelly: Arlie

    William and Frieda: Wilfred

    Gayle and Lloyd: Gaylord

    Milton and Lilly: Milly
