I have no idea how or if Trump's cutting off subsidies to the AHCA will impact me in any way. I am retired, have Medicare. Does anyone know?

I have Kaiser for Supplemental Insurance. Whether what Trump has done to the subsidies for the AHCA sticks I don't know how or if it will filter down to everyone. I suppose if he cuts off Medicare and Social Security completely( which would thrill Paul Ryan and Rand Paul et al) I'll be in terrible trouble. I won't be alone. Whether Trump can find a way to do that I don't know. I put nothing past him. Nothing. Absolutely nothing.  :(

Medicare sent me a card. I put it in my wallet and forgot about it. I decided a long time ago that I want nothing to do with government mandated medical treatments. I would rather die with dignity.

Medicare is not government care.  You go to whatever hospital or doctor (assuming you have Medicare Part B) you want who accepts it.  When your FICA taxes are deducted from your salary, a portion of it goes to Medicare, so if you aren't using it, you've paid in without getting the benefit of using it in return.

Glad people can decide if they use their medicare or not.  I, for one have used it and will continue to use it as long as needed.  With my Epilepsy,  COPD, Asthma and Arthritis, I would NOT have the quality of life that I have.  This coming week I need to go in for a CT scan on my chest.  I have an extra vessel that is not a problem but could be in the future.

In my last physical all is well , with everything. I plan on doing what is necessary to stay healthy.. GLAD I have Medicare.

    Morning Sparky.! <3

I'm happy to hear your medical needs are covered by Medicare.  I think this person just doesn't realize that Medicare is not government health care.

The AHCA does not effect Medicare at all.

AHCA? When did that pass Congress and signed into law by the President?

Last time I checked we were still struggling under the PPACA. That's the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, "Obamacare."

Rosie, have you looked into any of the $0 premium Medicare Advantage plans? I have a friend I help each year to with his plan. $0 premiums  and $0 deductible just copays for services.

No m'dear. I have had Kaiser since I worked. That was the insurance my employer had and I just stuck with it. When I turned 65 and had retired Kaiser automatically converted me to Senior Advantage. They saved my life when I had cancer in 2008. I get checked out yearly to make sure the cancer hasn't returned. I feel very loyal to them and even though I might find a cheaper plan it's worth it to me to stick with the doctors that saw me through so many difficulties. Thanks for the kind info though. Honestly m2c I just don't trust some of those plans. Like Blue Cross/Blue Shield for example. It was in the news a few years ago for some improprieties. Kaiser in our neck of the woods always gets high marks.  I guess maybe you get what you pay for. I see ads for those plans all the time. In fact this is the time of year for open enrollment and we get buried with solicitations. Jim used to have SCAN but he switched to Kaiser the first of the year and he  is so much happier! Happy Sunday! :)

Ok, but if you ever decide to ot is pretty simple. Just a mymedicare.gov account, then enter your doctors names, your scripts and hospitals. Then hit search and it shows you different plans. And tells you the max yearly out of pocket, the copays for your meds and doctor vistits.  It was actually much easier than I figured it would be the first time I helped my friend with his.

    Oh, cry me a river.

The PPACA has virtually blocked my access to healthcare. (And I need some serious medical treatment that I can't get right now because of that whole mess.)

Even if you are getting some benefit from Medicaid (which was re-branded as  Medi-Cal where you live and now re-branded as the PPACA, Obamacare) that will probably still be there for you in some form. And that's on top of of your Medicare benefits.
