Some folks allow others to push them around. Others don't take any crap from anyone. Is there a middle ground? Where?

In my experience, most people have their boundaries and know what is important to them and worth standing up for and what is trivial and they will let slide. There are some who are very meek and some who are very domineering, but the majority fall somewhere in between.
