Why would the modern-day music fan...

...listen to the pointless drivel like the likes of Miley, Bieber and One Direction? Do they not know what good music is? Have they ever heard art? Or is it me? Am I the one with bad music taste? Am I the one who doesn't know what I'm talking about?

There is good stuff out there right now. It's just that nobody listens to it.

Music is in the ear of the beholder..

I agree with you about Miley and Bieber, but there is also a lot of good stuff. and more coming every day.

A late sixties sound, with what i can only describe as a clockwork orange style mental hospital video.

I'm a boomer and my music tastes haven't changed. 60s - 80s. And classical music.

Gen Xer, there's not a lot of modern stuff I can stand. I can take P!nk in small doses. A few one hit wonders like Gotye and Snow Patrol.
I'm more into classic rock and new-wave synthpop - Icehouse, Queen, Pink Floyd, the Beatles.

Maybe part of your observation is based on the many aunts and grannies who go into a record store to get "something the young people like"
