    I've been to Santo Domingo, Santiago de Cuba and Montego Bay.  They were definitely NOT paradise.

    These countries are very poor and, as a result, crime is a big problem.  My father and I were almost carjacked and robbed in Montego Bay.  Things might be better in the US Virgin Islands or Dutch West Indies.
