I think both have their places. I don't think there's any value to people going on about how wonderful they are. If the person is really that great, people know it anyway. However, I think bragging or boasting to encourage someone else or a group is ok. Like, if I said that "Muggers are the best people ever," that would be boasting, but it's acceptable boasting in my opinion. ;)

You are not boasting/bragging about yourself JA . You are encouraging others and acknowledging how you feel about them. I don't see that as bragging at all. I see that as complimenting them and letting them know that you appreciate them. How is that bragging/boasting?. Bragging/boasting is always self-aggrandizing. When Trump brags about his kids he is really bragging about himself and what a great dad he is. Thank you for your reply m'dear!  :)

Nobody likes to hear a bragger.  I can't count the number of times I've heard someone say, I'm so pretty, I'm so smart, I'm so nice.  When they feel the need to "try" and look better than others, they're actually doing quite the opposite,  So, I'd say, keep it to yourself, it's worthless information.

I agree. Don't blow your own horn. If you are exceptional people will notice and do it for you. Thank you for your reply PC and Happy Wednesday to thee! :)

The only thing worse than a bragger is someone who takes a bite out of my Big Mac!

No just knowing you did it and it was the right thing to do you should be proud.

Much agreed on.  I like having that opportunity to give a nice someone a little encouragement when I sense they can use it.  It can go a long way.

Same here.  I also notice they are usually the same people that cannot admit they are wrong.

I once had a friend that always needed to remind me of what a great friend she was.  She wasn't and she finally figured it out when I went my separate way.

Better to just  be grateful that you have it. If someone asks about it then I would discuss it.

I often wonder how people like that can be so obtuse. They have no idea how their words/actions affect others. They are totally self-absorbed, clueless. Thank you for your reply PeaPod!  :)
