Cherry bomb or M80? There are some unintended side effects though . . .

I usually use a car key, or an old rusty drill bit (neither recommended, just kidding about that too) or an ear loop (not recommended unless you really know what you're doing or if it has a depth insertion ring on it). I've also recently seen TV ads for a "special" Q-Tip like device with disposable tips specifically for removing earwax.

Seriously, provided that you don't have a perforated eardrum, try some gently-warmed to body temperature Sweet Oil (pure, highly-filtered, highly-refined olive oil, available at your local pharmacy; look for a bottle with the U.S.P. mark) in the ear for a few minutes. That should soften the wax. Follow up with a warm (body temperature) water rinse. The ear syringe and the "drip pan" should also be available from your pharmacist too. (And you can skip the pan if you want to use an old towel.)

  • The key also keeps the ignition lock lubricated
Disclaimer! Don't try this at home folks ;)

I usually put a sheet of toilet paper
across the end of my finger, put finger
    into ear gently
and the TP will grab onto the wax.
Just warmly up to where you feel the TP touch the wax.
And move it back and forth maybe once
pull it out, and you will see wax on the TP
Probably most people will say don't do that
because you might poke your eardrum
    and cause damage.
For me this is better than using
Q Tip. Too easy to poke the eardrum
    with a Q Tip.
Oh and if you have long sharp fingernails,
probably not a good idea either.
Anyway that's what i do, and
I wouldn't recommend anyone to do it.
    HaHa
