You are free of the worry of having enough to pay your bills.....maintaining your home and vehicles and more importantly eating healthier unadulterated foods.......it buys you better health care and you can travel and explore the world at will.....
The down side is that it doesn't always bring happiness ......it can also restrict your freedom in so many ways ......thieves target more so.......
The rich and powerful also have the endless worry of holding on to their wealth.....
In the Turkish side of Cyprus the banks just took half of what was in everyone's bank accounts and the people could do nothing to stop them....
Egypt just a year or so ago devalued their currency by half and everyone forigner that lived there lost half of their money.....
((hugs)) Thank you for your very thoughtful AND very informative analysis NJ. How would one ever know if it were the money that attracted folks to them or just their sweet little old selves? They wouldn't. Also thank you for the shocking info about Cyprus. I didn't know! :( Jim and I don't have much but we're doing quite okay. If we were to have half our savings suddenly disappear it would be dreadful not to mention unconscionable and scary as he**. But I guess power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. And I didn't know about Egypt either. Shame on me. I guess I just wasn't paying attention. Thank you for educating me about that. A corrupt government can do whatever the he** it can get away with. SIGH. That is surely one thing that binds all countries. The corruption of their leaders. I think I'm gonna ask a question about that. Your nifty answer has caused me to think upon my question differently. Happy Thursday m'dear! :)
Greece is going through terrible times Rosie with the euro crisis over there .......most workers government workers like teachers and so on have had their pay cut in half anu utilities bills increased.......petrol and diesel prices were bridging nearly two Euros a litre .....all medical prescriptions cost fortunes and it's the poorest that are being forced to pay for all the financial trouble they are in...... The German firm Siemens that built Athens underground system and the Olympic site ruined the country........ Crouption of the then government excepting a quote that was two billion dearer and then sharing so that Siemens kept half and Greek officials kept the other....
Which is the greater Crime Rosie......an elderly person being mugged of her last 5 dollars that has to last her until the end of the week to feed herself or Donald Trump getting mugged for his Fifty thousand dollar gold watch. . .?
Unless it's a trick question it's a no-brainer my friend. I'm an elderly person and kinda slender so being mugged for my last $5 might well kill me. Trump could just sit on me and take my life away. Then I'd have no worries. I don't do starving well. Greece of all places! Athens. I don't know if I ever told you this but I get goosebumps when I look at a photo of the Erechtheum. Specifically the Porch of the Caryatids. It is very oddly familiar to me though I have never been to Greece. I "remember" being there as the porch was being built. Maybe I saw a movie once long ago and that is what I "remember". The Erechtheum was completd around 407B.C. If I were to ever travel anywhere it would be to Greece and the Acropolis and see up close the maidens sculpted there. My dad and his family escaped to the Island of Crete when the Turks began the Armenian genocide. He lived there a few years and spoke Greek. I don't consciously remember his every talking to me about that time in his life but perhaps I overheard him when I was very young. T'is a puzzlement. Thank you for your reply NJ! :)
I can't argue with that so I won't. The thing that would always haunt me is this. Is it me or my money that draws people to me? How could one ever KNOW for sure? Thank you for your reply Ele and Happy Thursday! :)

The best is not having to worry about having what you actually need and knowing that your children will not have to worry about it either, unless of course they screw up their inheritance which happens often. There is no downside for people who can manage the wealth and life. Blue bloods have no problem with it but when there is new money, there is often a few disasters some of which are never overcome.....think lottery winners who end up with nothing.
Well you can do more things and have more things you want. But you would need to spend a good amount of time looking after your assets. After all what you own might really own you!
