Discussion»Questions»Environment» Do you think that moving to electric cars with affect the environment positively when industries pollute more than ever ever year?
They will simply replace - and then only partially - one source and sort of problems with others.
Salt and Red Pepper mentions the electricity - indeed, and what also of all the materials for the millions of batteries that will be needed?
The copper, steel and plastics for the millions of domestic and work-place battery-chargers and associated wiring?
And of the batteries having significantly shorter lives than the vehicles as a whole? If replacement battery-packs cost more than the car's value at the time of replacement, won't that mean vast numbers of otherwise serviceable vehicles being scrapped prematurely because their owners are affected personally far more by the financial than environmental cost?
