Am I supposed to move to Florida?

I've always loved the cold.  I hate heat and humidity.  Fall has always been my favorite season.  All that being said, the past 2 days the temps dropped like a rock!  It's f*cking cold!  I don't understand why I'm suddenly so uncomfortable.  Here's my question:

Since I'm a Jew, is it at all possible that there is a sleeping cell in my DNA that has suddenly turned itself on, and is telling me it's time to move to my homeland.. Palm Beach, Florida?

  • It's the same here.  It's even gone from 54 to about 40 in the past 2 hours and is going to get down to the twenties and low teens by tomorrow. We just haven't acclimated because it was  70's and 80's up till 2 weeks ago and had more of a summer this fall than we did in all of July and August.

So, I don't have to be another old Jew in a sea of old Jews?  Praise Jeebus!

  • I just found that ding-bat Joy Behar isn't Jewish.  I was shocked, but then again NYC Italian princesses and Jewish princesses can be hard to differentiate if there isn't any clams and bacon around I suppose.  Still I never seen a more stereotypically jewish accented person that isn't jewish.

LOL.  I was surprised too when I found out about that.  If it helps, I rarely get pinpointed as being a Jew.

LMFAO!  Maybe if she let her chin hairs grow out, it would be obvious she's Italian.

How shocking!  I would have bet money she was Jewish.  She exhibits all the signs.  I'm Jewish, but don't sound anything like that and no one has ever met me and said they thought I looked or sounded Jewish.

I always thought she was Jewish too. I have known several like that. And when someone said they are a New York Jew, we know exactly what they meant.
I have never heard your voice Spunky, but I never got the impression that you were like that.

Yes, we do know what is meant by a "NY Jew" and, no, my voice is not like that.  I have a slight NY accent, but I'm trying to do better. :)

The normal accents are fine, in fact I like it.
It's the brassy accents that are also shared by many Italian people as well that we may find offensive.
It's not just the accent, it's also that pushy, uncouth, attitude that they have.
They do give New Yorker's a bad name.
Most are really lovely people and are great friends.

You're right.  The Jews and Italians share many of the same traits - sometimes it's hard to tell.  What I can't stand these days are the younger women whose every declaratory sentence sounds like a question - the voice goes up at the end no matter what they say.  Then there are the ones who make it sound as though it's soooo difficult to speak.

Why don't you come down and try Vero Beach.  It's not known for being a destination for Jews.  You can come down, say next April, when you're sick and tired of the cold.  We'll come up there and stay in our place in the woods.  Then you can try living here for as long as it takes to decide if you want to move to Florida.  I've done lots of home exchanges.  It's a great way to see what it's like to live like a local.

LOL.  I'll consider it CMI.  Believe ir or not, I was thinking about you today.  I forgot to take a pic of the brook that runs through my property and post it for you.  I'll try to remember to do it when I'm working in the yard this weekend.

I cannot imagine myself moving to Florida, even though I'm Jewish.  I can't abide the heat and humidity nine months out of the year.  You go from the air conditioned house to the air conditioned car to the air conditioned mall and back again.  Just not for me although I do understand you finding yourself so cold all of a sudden.  Truth is that it's been so unseasonably warm this Fall that we haven't built up our winter blood and our bodies can't adjust that quickly.  It was 55 at midnight and by morning, it will be in the low 30s here in NYC.  Last week, we hit 74.

LOL.  I was just joking.  I know my body hasn't had a chance to acclimate yet.  There's no f*cking way this Jew is ever moving to Florida unless I completely run out of money and don't have a roof over my head.  If that happens, I'll be looking for a rich guy to marry who has one foot in the grave.  Hence, Floriduh.

  • My last somewhat serious relationship I was in , the guy owned a condo in Sarasota Florida. We go there for a few weeks in winter and I'd spend a few hours a day at one of the pools on residence. There was always older bee-achy woman there who liked to be mean to me and give me mean looks..... so I think you'd fit right in! ;)) you should go then... :p
