What insignificant thing have you learned on social media that made a profound change in your being?

The use of the words 'hate', 'stupid' is very rampant. Does it reflect on the individual using such negative/derogatory words?

I had a special friend on EP. He told me never to use the word 'hate' because that is a strong word and it reflects so much on the person. From then on, I have refrained from using it, because I don't want hate in my being and it has certainly positively changed my awareness/thinking process and disposition.

I can't think of anything insignificant. A lot of people I've met online have helped shape me and my world view, but I can't think of a single isolated incident. I like your friend's philosophy, though. :)

  • I've learned that most people are somewhat lonely and just want to be liked and loved. Usually the angriest are the loneliest.
Also, I've changed the way I address people off line, I'm more direct and personable, people want to talk and be listened to.
Oh, and that there's some really scary people out there with disturbing ideas hidden among every day people and hand shakes. Good question.

Not insignificant. I sort of missed that part of the question.
