A political pundit says that both Putin and Trump lie because it shows how powerful they are. They lie and people acceot the lies. WHAT?

If lying is the hallmark of a powerful person there are sure a lot of folks who are powerful. Do you think that makes any sense at all or is it just nonsense? They both lie. Yes. They are both powerful. Yes. Is one a catalyst for the other? Is one contingent upon the other? If they were not powerful would they cease lying? What exactly is the connection between LiARS and POWER?

His lies about Trump's character not withstanding, he is absolutely right that blatant lying is an act of domination.

If you get people agreeing with what they know in their hearts isn't true, you have dominated them. They know it's a lie but they're too afraid to say so. That is power.

The movie Sin City said it best -

The system always wants to measure the level of domination it has. They tell people 2 + 2 = 5 and see who contradicts them. They make an example of those people. People starting to speak the truth is an early warning of rebellion.

This is why the left have ridiculous codes of political correctness. Everyone who isn't completely insane knows it's ludicrous nonsense but most are too afraid of social ostracisation to speak out.

This why we see the left screaming homophobia at Christians for refusing to bake gay wedding cakes, while simultaneously screaming racist at anyone who criticizes the most homophobic culture on the planet, Islam. It doesn't make sense. It's not meant to. They couldn't give a damn about gay rights or Muslims. They're just threatened that someone has the courage to contradict them.

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.” Joseph Goebbels This post was edited by Zeitgeist at November 15, 2017 2:12 PM MST
