As a child were you closer to one parent than the other?

If so, to what degree?

For a while there, I only had one. When she "acquired" a stepfather for us, I guess it can be said that I was closer to her by default, but generally speaking, there's never been a whole of closeness there as most families go.

Closer to my mother as my father disappeared when I was 7. She wasn't very nurturing though.

Stepfathers suck. Mine abused two of my sisters and my mother.

I was close to both of them  I felt less scared of my mom.  She was more approachable and understanding, but that was because my dad was a man with men interests.   He was a mechanic and worked his hiney off and was often tired and not as "fun" as a mother.

Not ALL stepfathers are bad. That's just like saying "all" of any group are bad.

I can relate to the second part. As for the first part, you had 7 years, I believe I got about 7 seconds, maybe as many as 7 minutes.

I'm real close with my dad.  Mom is hard to get along with.

I was closer to my mom.

    We could talk easily.
