  •  A lot of times recipes have a family history to them or at the very least some nuclear family connection.  They have memories and sentimentalities attached to them.
Past holidays, a seldom seen parent, or a deceased grandma, etc., etc.  Keeping them a secret helps preserve that special connection and distinctness that allows them to remain special and unique and that preserves the connections to the past times and people associated with them.   Letting them out makes them feel generic and close to the heart.
Other times it might be for some of the reasons my Grams kept many secret.   She loved to cook and loved to share it with others. Her having her own taste signature brought her joy when someone really liked one of her dishes and she could surprise them with a foil pan full of it from time to time to time.

Want my recipe for guacamole? I don't know why anyone would not want to share a recipe. My sisters and I do quite often.

YESSSSSS! We LOVE avocados! We LOVE guacamole. This year though hasn't been a good year for them...at least not in our neck of the woods. Last year there were bonanza avocado crops I guess. So yes please I would LOVE to have it and so would Jim. He is currently taking a shower and I know he thanks you too Eke! OH BOY!  :)
