    Have you seen the movie Idiocracy? Parents should be responsible/ mature people who can take care of their family:teach them right from wrong, make sure their children are fed, clothed and do well in school.
    Responsible couples wait for all the pieces to fall into place: good job, buy a house, and then it might be too late;
    where an irresponsible couple or woman/girl gets pregnant, has the child, and possibly not be mature enough to raise a child on her own. There will always be children being born but what type of parent(s) are having the children.

    Much of the world's population has no concern for this and breed like rabbits.  I don't think the stated deterrents have any chance of causing human extinction.

    Not sure just what "replacement level" means - why would we want to replace our children?  What you are stating only holds true for certain kinds of women.  Younger women, including many with perhaps a more romantic turn of mind, will mate with whoever and just assume everything will be OK.
