It is the day we choose to celebrate His birth. We do not know the accurate date, but we do know it was not Dec 25. The most likely date being Sept 29.

God knows our hearts and if we are worshipping Him in spirit and in truth. He is not limited by the date on the calendar.

25 December was chosen to fit in with the football and basketball schedules. Makes good sense.

It's not a big deal. Everybody gets born.

Which is why we don't celebrate it as a religious holiday but rather a family one.

The oddness is that Christmas and Michaelmas have always been Christian holidays, and nobody is sure why. The best guess seems to be that Christ was conceived on Dec. 25 and born 270 days later on Nov. 29. But we might have to take a vote on that.

December 25th the official ancient Roman festival to Saturn, the sun-god. Known as the saturnalia, the holiday was celebrated with a sacrifice at the temple of Saturn, which included gift giving, continual partying, and a carnival atmosphere. It was adopted by the apostate Catholic church hundreds of years after the death of Jesus Christ. No where in the bible does it indicate that Christ's birth should be observed, especially the way it is celebrated. True Christians are admonished now, as they were in the early days of Christianity to not become involved with pagan practices and customs. "Do not become unevenly yoked with unbelievers. For what fellowship do righteousness and lawlessness have? or what sharing does light have with darkness? Further, what harmony is there between Christ and belial? Or what does a believer share in common with an unbeliever?.."'therefore, get out from among them, and separate yourselves, ' says Jehovah, and quit  touching the unclean thing '"; (2Corinthians 6:14,15,17) This post was edited by Autumnleaves at November 25, 2017 11:46 PM MST
