When you write something, do you write it as you would speak it,

or do you jazz it up to make you look smarter than you actually are?

    Writing provides the advantage of thinking through what you intend to say. I think messages can thus be more clearly communicated in writing than with speech.

    Philosophy essays I usually had to cut to get DOWN to within 10% of the word count. Theology I waffled.

    I use a thesaurus, dictionary, synonym, & antonym finders.  Then I sit down, pick apart the question, and write a response.  Then I walk away, come back, and rewrite it.  Then, I walk away for a second time, come back, and rewrite.  I do this 3 times.  Then I  post.   I do all this because I'm a blithering idiot in real life and I've always wanted to sound as if I'm the smartest person in the room.  It's a good thing everyone else on this site is as stupid as I am.  It's a relief to know I don't have much competition in the smarts dept here on this site!  Hallelujah!

  • No, but when it comes to reading, I enjoy the writing of others done in every day vernacular. It's more conversational.
