Did you ever laugh so hard and so long you got a stomach ache? What was so funny?

It's happened to me several times, but the most recent was while I was watching a rerun of an episode on Frasier.  The brother, Niles, was trrying to iron his pants, cut his finger and nearly passed when he saw the blood, and forgot that the iron was on his pants while he was looking for something to stop the bleeding.  You really would have to see it to understand.

I loved that show. The actors chosen were PERFECT for the roles. I watched it all the time though I don't recall that particular episode Spunky. For me it was on the Carol Burnett Show when she made a ball gown out of drapes and used the curtain rods as shoulder pads to keep the fabric up. She walked slowly and regally down the stairs looking ridiculous as he** and I cracked up and couldn't stop laughing. Subsequently I read that was the funniest clip ever shown on TV at that time. It was decades ago and also I don't know how they could measure that in the first place. Also there were a few I love Lucy shows that got to me. She caught her fake nose on fire lighting a cigar. The chocolate factory production line where it went too fast so she started stuffing the chocolates in her mouth and down her blouse! And we can't forget when she got drunk as a skunk on a product she was selling. Was it meatvegavitamin or something? Those were the days. Who is funny these days? Thank you for your reply Spunky and Happy Wednesday!  :)

Yes, that Carol Burnett skit was hysterical, but the one that really got to me was when Harvey Korman was visiting the dentist (Tim Conway).  Conway was trying to give Korman a novocaine shot and kept sticking himself with it.  Eventually, Conway was out cold and I remember almost wetting myself I laughed so hard.

I remember that honey! I do! Now that you being it up. My gosh there were SO MANY hysterical  shows. They cracked one another up all that time. That was part of the fun. SIGH. I miss those days. Will they ever return? Who is on the scene now that can touch them? Thank you for your reply Spunky!  :)

They were the iconic comedians of my youth and they did it all without using foul language.  There aren't many to compare these days.  I did like George Carlin and Robin Williams, though, but they're gone.

I agree with thee Spunky. Word for word. Thank you for your reply! I wonder where we will ever find the Fred Astaires and Gene Kellys and Ginger Rogers and Cyd Charisses and Leslie Carons and Donald O'Connors and Debbie Reynolds?  Eleanor Powell was the most amazing tap dancer I've ever seen. Musical icons. Comedic icons as mentioned including Red Skelton whom I always thought was so sweet.  Art Carney was indescribably funny. Gleason had his moments too. I remember one episode where Gleason was teaching Carney about golf. Gleason says "address the ball" and Carney says "hello ball"! Honestly that cracked me up and still does today. Sid Caesar...Imogene Coca. Also we had Laugh-In. We had a huge variety of  FUNNY from which to choose. Today? I dunno. When will anyone ever replace them?. SIGH. I guess my age is showing! :) This post was edited by RosieG at November 30, 2017 7:58 AM MST

Yes, when you mention all of those actors, dancers and comedians, it does make me realize how much folks today are missing.  You left out Burns and Allen and Abbott and Costello. :)  Happy Thursday. :)

I thought about Burns & Allen but totally forget about Bud and Lou. Years ago my then-husband had a good friend who was the mother of a child actress (Sandra Descher). We would attend gatherings of "industry" folks as her guest from time to time. I met Olive Abbott, Bud's sister. She always arrived with champagne. It was all she drank. She was a delightful woman. When she'd had "a few" she was very funny. I remember her well! Thank you for your reply Spunky! :)

Well, times have changed a lot since then.  Today's kids will look back years from now and reminisce about the current crop the same as we are doing. :)

I don't follow anyone any more Spunky. I don't recognize most of the names of guest "celebrities" on some shows. I guess I'm just out of it! :(

A standup routine by Aussie comedian Richard Stubbs. I was rolling on the floor crying with laughter.

I should have liked to have seen that. Both him and you rolling on the floor. I have never heard of him sadly. Thank you for your reply and Happy Wednesday Sbf! :)
