Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» Any of you Native American? Is "Pocahantas" offensive to you or is there nothing wrong with calling someone that? Are you a Trump supporter?
Thank you for reminding me Zack. Apparently you cannot discuss like an adult. Just make claims and use name calling and quotes to dodge questions.

I "kinda" remember reading about Pocahontas in high school. I decided to refresh my memory about the details before answering.
I read Wikipedia and then started on the topical comments. I found one link that turned out to be quite amusing and still had a valid point.
The summary was "(Many white people) honestly believe that they can decide for nonwhite people whether something is racist or not. Not only do they think they can do whatever they want, but they also believe that they should be able to control people’s responses to their actions.
And if you think I’ve contradicted myself by stereotyping white people, you might be right. I might be a little bit racist.
But I like to call it “presidential.”
I recommend this link to anyone with a sense of humor:
Given the fact that "racist" involves showing and feeling in it's definitions regardless of how it's used indicates that "racist" is a judgment rather than a statement of fact.
rac·ist ˈrāsəst/Submit noun 1. a person who shows or feels discrimination or prejudice against people of other races, or who believes that a particular race is superior to another. "the comments have led to her being called a racist" synonyms: racial bigot, racialist, xenophobe, chauvinist, supremacist More adjective 1. showing or feeling discrimination or prejudice against people of other races, or believing that a particular race is superior to another. "we are investigating complaints about racist abuse at the club"
Those are definitive and objective definitions. Not subjective.
Racism is a belief that one race is superior or has a right to dominate another. A Xenophobia isn't definitively racist and nor is prejudice definitively racist. Just as stereotypes are not definitively racist. We can't keep watering down words and definitions and expect them to have any usefulness.
Besides he wasn't using the name in a racial context. He wasn't using it to disparage a race or a person race. He was mocking a false claim. Context always matters.
As said. It was entirely inappropriate, ignorant, and uncouth to say it in the venue. However to say it's being racist or is making a racist comment isn't true either.
Can't stand the man and can't wait for him to fade away but people just make chit up and inflate things.
Thanks let me know :) I've changed my "site" email account yet again... if you have a way to give me his email address, message me. Say hi to him for me :)
