Usually for me fear is just a hyper awareness and an obstacle in the way of progress that is over reaction and a waste of time, but I think when it comes to parenting that's one instance where you should be a little fearful and cautious because children usually aren't and they need our guidance. To answer the question I guess I would define fear as an instinct to avoid pain, stress or even death.
Ponds and creeks around golf courses. Flying down the highway and suddenly seeing a big traffic backup ahead. A skunk in your garage. You just took your child to the hospital and after a few hours, the doctors tell you to contact a funeral home. Your dog likes to chase cars.
Fear is : An innate emotional response to conditions we can’t control or don’t understand.
