Why is it that women seem to have an uncontrollable obsession with covering every available hoizontal surface in a house with stuff?

And about half the vertical surfaces with pictures, paintings, knick-knack shelves and mirrors.

I find this question objectionable and sexist.  Screw you.  Literally. ;-)

Not all women. I hate that kind of clutter. Clear surfaces make for a calming environment and are easier to clean.

But if there is clutter you don't see the dirt.

Excellent point. I'm going out to buy me some knick-knacks at the dollar store right away.

Dirt on clutter makes everything dusty.

I am actually cleaning a lot of the cosmic debris I put around the house as we speak.

You are right.  I hate clutter and I do it all the time.

    Less is best.
If you are going to have "stuff" make it stuff of quality, not quantity.

And this is coming for a wizardress. I have had more clutter than you could possibly imagine and I can say,
The only reason to collect it is so you can feel good when you give it to someone who might need it.
Then they can love it or deal with it and the circle of "stuff" continues.

And that is why the only stuff I allow on the tops of my furniture is dust.  Makes it so much easier to vacuum up every six months or so.

I can't stand it either.  It's clutter and clutter gets on my nerves.

No corner is spared and the hardwood floors have rugs and mats on them ;)
