I don't live in front of a computer.  There were decades I didn't touch it.

Now, I am lucky if  ever miss a day for some reason or another.  I need my puter now.

I was not born with a computer connected to me, so I claim about two and a half decades offline.

Hi dear Randy D~  I was going to say something extremely similar to that. Did you sneak in and slide that out of my brain via osmosis or did I borrow that from yours?

Merle, I haven't been anywhere near your second-story window above the flower garden that faces northeast and has the graded walls that are so easy to climb that I hardly broke a sweat.  You're imagining things.

SHAZAAMM!!!    I thought that was you!!!  I could tell by your Overcoat... You've been in here before too!  I know you had to go over the river and through the woods but to grandmother's house ... N00000!!  You stopped by my house along the way!  To steal my answers, I do say!!  All I can say is you better be ready when you come up here.  You Never know what you might find ;) .... just beware!!

My answer was miraculously already posted, give or take a year or two. But, to further my already used answer, (no mention of names) I can say this:
Since I've had a computer and was able to be online, I'm normally kicked off at least 3 times a week because we have a really bad internet connection.  If I were to add all those days and hours up, I'd say about 3 weeks.
As far as choosing to be offline, a little over a year.

  • Hi Merlin, I WAS with a local internet company about 20 years ago at someone else's recommendation and they had a limit to how long the customers could be online. They even repaired my computer. Then in the middle of the Windows updates they cut my connection several times. Then they were unhappy with me for leaving them. He he he he!!

  • A lot of repliers said they were without computers (not online) for many years I know I was not on computers for at least 4 decades in that sense. I guess next time I need to be  more specific in a question. After I posted my question I thought about it. Then enjoyed all the replies.

  • You must be a good actor, just kidding since I don't know you. Thanks for the welcome. I got here after seeing a post mentioning this one at Answerbag. They are a bit stingy with the smileys.

  • Many of us here have spent time at AnswerBag, including myself (2008-2015), and I've been back since, but it's not the same.

Anyway ... if you'll notice, above my avatar, is says  ALF Rick. It's setup this way so that it is easier to tell who your comment/reply is for.
This happens when you use the "reply" button directly below the comment you want to reply to.  Some the AM threads get pretty long and it can get confusing.  Your choice ... of course.
"Rick" ... is that the same username you used at AB?  Seems familiar.  Mine were "Shadow" 2008-2010 and ALF 2010-2015.  Anyway ... see you in the trenches!  :)

  • Oh I have seen your avatar. I was at the old Answerbag and then signed up there again. Yes I go by Rick there too. I'm just another creature of habit. As a matter of fact I used my Chucky Cheese  avatar at the old one the whole time  and  this time as well but changed my avatar several times since. I have used the one I have on here there as well. Now my words are gettin mixy pixy. lol

  • Hmmm ... maybe.  Here was my "Shadow" avatar  (only smaller)

  • It is smaller? When I tried one that size it was sideways until I made it smaller. I do not recall that image.  Here is my Chucky Cheese. This place makes them larger I guess.  This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at December 18, 2017 8:50 AM MST
