Billionaire kids do GREAT when their folks die. No estate taxes. YOOGE corporations get slashed taxes. "Cut cut cut" bonanza for y' all?

WHAT? You're not the kid of a billionaire nor a yooooge corporation owner? What are you and why do you think you should get something out of "cut cut cut"? What did YOU do to deserve it? Were you  born to wealth? Did you inherit a going operation? Ya gotta pay your dues  and I don't see where any of you "little people" qualify! :(

I think its important to note estate taxes touch EVERYONE who passes ANYTHING of monetary value to their heirs. Not just the superrich.

    Think of it like this:
You spent your whole adult life building a portfolio, a business, a nest egg, or a comfortable sum to live your life with. You worked long and hard. You paid your taxes on your earnings all of your working life, if you made a lot, then you paid way more than most other people. In the end, you‘ve still saved something for your descendants to benefit from, it’s truly your legacy to your children. But whether that legacy is $50 grand or $50 billion, the govt is gonna throw its big greedy mitts into your net worth, your bank accounts, your home equity, your coin collection for a fat piece when you die,... how is this right? Your sweat, your savings. You paid your dues. But that doesn’t matter.

The problem is too many poor and working class saved nothing, leave nothing, and there is a stigma of societal ignorance and envy that declares those who leave something must be forced to share a chunk of it with the poor and the losers who didn’t, at least theoretically. So estate taxes were created by opportunistic pols to PENALIZE the fortunate, the visionaries, the entrepreneurs —-those who already foot the bill for govt entitlements, and their children—-, once more, posthumously; whether they were charitable in life or not.

Government as evil Robin Hood: robbing the dead, at the expense of their bereaved heirs, for the benefit of said government.

But, Au Contraire to any one who thinks that estate tax that the feds pry away is ever shared with the poor: you all are more than ignorant. You are part of the problem. Probably why you are poor.

Its ridulous to claim that allowing families (rich or otherwise) to keep what is already theirs is a govt handout. But that is what the misleading proponents of estate taxes want the lemmings to think... and they do. To the detriment of all. This post was edited by Don Barzini at December 15, 2017 5:13 AM MST

This is what I read. Estate taxes only kick in if your estate is in excess of  $500,000. Our estate is far less than that. You are saying EVERYONE would be affected. Which is true? What you are saying or what I read? I"m not challenging the veracity of what you said Don. I just wonder what the truth is. No one in my family will have an estate in excess of $500,000. Well maybe our boys will one day but they're in their 50's and so far? Not even close. As for the very wealthy. They DESERVE all that they can get their grubby little hands on accordi ng to them. They employ extortion without batting an eye. It is due to the obscenely wealthy cash cow partisan political contributors to the Republican Party that the 'cut cut cut' bill exists. The evil liar aka Donald John tells folks their tax cuts will be GIGANTIC. Bullsh**. They won't unless they are obscenely wealthy to begin with. Makes sense. Take away medical/social safety nets (Medicaid/Medicare/Social Security is on deck waiting to be up at bat to strike out..Paul Ryan is salivating this very minute looking forward to his role in gutting all of it) and give all the billions to the obscenely wealthy extortionists whose love of money eclipses everything. Forget love of country. Forget love of other human beings. Love of money rings their chimes, floats their boats and they get off on it. There is never enough for them.  Apologies for the rant. I'm mad as he** and I'm not gonna to take it anymore! As if I mattered. I'm old, not wealthy and of no use to anyone that wields power. Neither do the ill, poor, young. They are all expendable and sacrificial lambs on the altar of excess/greed/evil. That is what our country under the monstrous Donald John is proudly extolling and advertising. SIGH. I had cancer in 2008 and would be dead had it not been for Medicare.  So would millions of others just like me. Dead. Thank you for your reply Don B. So where do we go from here pray tell? Who will lead us out of this he**? I'm gonna ask that  question.  :)

No worries, Rosie, mine was a bit of a rant as well. In my exuberence, I may have gotten the exact lower amount incorrect, whether I did or not, the general point remains.

I’m a wealthy person, Rosie, I built my business from the ground up, and I tire of defending the fruits of my success from the clutches of our greedy, wasteful, incompetent gov’t, and the narrow views (and ever-outstretched hands) of the less fortunate.

And yes, I am in strong opposition to the current conditions of our govt. As always it’s going to be up to the grassroots citizenry to get this ship righted....if its possible at all.

Have you considered if there is a point of no return? This post was edited by Don Barzini at December 15, 2017 7:06 AM MST
