I've been accused of being an enabler for not "making" my anorexic friend eat. What do they expect me to do? Tie her up and force food down her gullet? I would at least offer her little things like yogurt, oatmeal, and nutrition shakes. She took the shakes at least.

Is she under a doctor's care? You cannot force people to eat. If they are hospitalized and refuse food doctors can "feed them" intravenously. It is not your responsibility to keep her alive Patch. If she wants to die let her. That may sound cold/harsh but for whatever reason she doesn't value her life. If she is an adult and refuses to seek help that is her call and her right. It's a sad thing to see but it's happened before and will happen again. You remember Karen Carpenter? I don't know how many of them there are or have been or will be but they exist. SIGH.. Thank you for your reply and condolences as you watch her die. Happy Monday m'dear!  :)

She's doing much better now after her last hospital visit. She eats plenty and gained back her weight. She had another medical issue that may have had something to do with it, but it's now under control. I tried my best to reason with her, but I didn't want to be forceful because that wouldn't do much help. She seeked help on her own.

You are a very good friend Patch. It isn't your responsibility what she does with her body but if you can exert a little influence toward the good then congrats and good luck. I'm not being sarcastic sweetie. I'm just being honest. I hope she keeps on the straight and narrow path to good health. If she backslides it isn't your fault. :)

  • Lol, I'm an avoider. What people do is their business. I'm no expert on their lives.
