  • I'll tell you the honest truth Weylon. I think we strive so that we'll know we're alive.

  • No physical pain - somewhat like the life of a leper, doing things without awareness of damage to the body, not noticing the warning signs of diseases like cancer or kidney stones, not noticing accidental pulled muscles and tendons, burns, bruises, cuts, stings and bites, gradually accumulating as scars, maiming, disabilities and inevitably a much earlier death. Could cause lethal fearlessness.

No emotional pain - inability to feel empathy or compassion for others, leading to a severely retarded or absent moral compass, and completely preventing the development of insight and wisdom.

Pain in the right context is necessary.

We're so used to the every day problems that most believe a life without suffering is abnormal. The bible speaks of a world without pain and suffering when mankind will one day reach perfection. Under such conditions mankind will thrive, and soar to unimaginable heights. (Revelation 21:3-5) This post was edited by Autumnleaves at December 28, 2017 11:12 PM MST
