No....No matter what......100% security is impossible......There are to many clever people out there and security  is never 100% obtainable.....

What happened in Atlanta Rosie ?

I think a fire started and took out a power grid NJ. Folks at LAX were affected by it. It was an 11-hour blakcout so I'm guessing folks everywhere were affected. Imagine having to just sit and wait and sit and wait and sit and wait until things got rolling. Than you for your reply m'dear and Happy Tuesday! :)

I don't think so honey. I THINK it was just a malfunction but I haven't researched anything yet today. Taking down our power grid would certainly cripple us and that is what I fear. I think there are majo power grid centers in our country and if they are all taken out we are back to the gaslight days. No electricity. I think it could happen and perhaps will. Sorry I can't give an answer to your question but I'll check it out! Thank you for your response NJ! I just Googled it NJ and it says that "authorities aren't ruling out terrorism". So I guess they are checking out that possibility. Thanks for asking. Now we wait to see  and if it is terrorism I expect to see copycat outages all over America! SIGH. :( This post was edited by RosieG at December 19, 2017 3:00 AM MST

I thought you were saying it was a terrorist attack......we had many of them because of Ireland many years ago....again can you blame them if you steal another's country......atacking the people is not right.....but those that rule and stole are fair game really.....

  • Probably yes.
An example is the city of Adelaide in South Australia which invited Tesla's Elon Musk to build a back-up battery which could power the entire city at short notice during power black-outs caused by extreme weather conditions or spikes in user demand. He offered to build it within 3 months or it would be free of cost. He got it built on time to a high standard and the system is now working perfectly.
If some forms of public transport - trains, trams or electric buses - require electricity, solar, wind or hydro powered batteries can work very well, augmented by fossil fuels when necessary.
Systems which tap into the Earth's deep underground heat have also proved stable and economical in Spain and Port Adelaide.

That's quite amazing Hartfire! Thank you for a very thoughtful and informative reply. I wonder how much it would cost to do that in all airports worldwide? He was so certain of it he gave himself a time limit in which to accomplish or it would be free! That's confidence. So maybe others can use what he did as template and just do more of it? Happy Tuesday! :)

Maybe I am wrong but I don't think we can protect 100% against anything.

  • I agree with that, Mr Elliot. However I also like Edward de Bono's notion that it is always possible to improve.

No one ever can.....There are to many devious minds out there willing to try new things....to say any different is just propaganda to quell the citizens  fear....

Did you read Hartfire's reply to my question Weylon? Please read it. It contains amazing info about what Elon Musk did at an airport in Adelaide, South Australia. Thank you for your reply and Happy Tuesday! :)
